With so many classes on offer at Unfold Yoga + Wellbeing, it can be difficult for students to decide which they should attend. Really, the best class is the one you can commit to attending regularly! The physical and mental benefits of yoga are heightened with consistent practice. Explore the timetable and think carefully about your schedule. Consider the early morning classes before the day gets underway, the mid-morning classes for a later start, the afternoon classes that will keep your evening free or the evening classes to unwind before bedtime.

Once you have considered your schedule, read through the class descriptions which indicate the focus of the class. All teachers at Unfold tailor the class to the students in attendance. Alternatives are offered to suit individual needs. Let your teacher know at the start of the class if you have any injuries or conditions, if you feel fatigued or if you are menstruating as modifications can be made. Options are offered to suit students with less experience and challenge can be added for more advanced students.

Beginners or those returning to yoga after a break will enjoy the Foundational classes. Even the most experienced yoga practitioners benefit from the ‘back to basics’ approach of these classes. Level 1 classes build on the foundational poses, focusing on developing strength and stamina in the poses as the body begins to open. A wider variety of twists, forward bends, backbends and inversions are practiced. These classes include students with a range of experience and newer students are well supported as they approach less familiar poses. Progression occurs into the Level 2 classes, where students start to build confidence in more advanced poses. As always, students with less experience are well-supported and alternatives can be offered to help them progress towards these more advanced poses. Level 1/2 classes are tailored to the needs of students with a range of experience.

‘Stretch and Restore’ is a wonderful opportunity to gently stretch and open the body and rejuvenate the nervous system every Sunday afternoon, in preparation for the week ahead. This class is beneficial for all, from those who are starting their yoga journey to those who are well travelled on the path. Easy Pace classes offer a quieter, more supported practice. Rest assured, whichever class you choose your teacher will provide opportunities for you to experience the union of mind and body that the practice of yoga offers.

It is an excellent idea to trial a range of classes with different teachers to find the best fit for you. Your teachers can help you evolve your practice as they become familiar with your patterns of movement and your strengths and limitations. Regular attendance at yoga can offer a peaceful sanctuary in your week where you can leave the outside world behind for a while and focus on mind, body and spirit.

Practicing yoga once a week will change your mind.

Practicing yoga twice a week will change your body.

Practicing yoga everyday will change your life.
